What can I expect from a standard Ironman Training plan?
  • A plan that can fit around a busy family or work life
  • Plans based on RPE (effort) or Rate of Perceived Exertion and not power numbers, heart rates or paces! Heart rate and power numbers can change over time due to fitness and other variables. You need to listen to your body and learn to know what it is telling you!
  • 2 week race week taper and advice on post-race recovery is included in every plan
  • Shorter mid-week sessions, with longer bike and run sessions on the weekend

Half Ironman Training Plan- Intermediate

  • 16 week plan, ave. 12 hours per week, building to maximum of 15 hours per week. 
  • For those athletes who want to compete in a Half Distance Triathlon.  For this plan we recommend that you have already raced an Olympic distance triathlon, or are capable of a 40 minute swim session, ride for 75 minutes and run for 40 minutes. 
  • 2 week taper into your race 
  • 1-2 sessions per day

Half Ironman Training Plan- Advanced

  • 16 week plan, ave. 13.5 hours per week, building to maximum of 16 hours per week.
  • For those athletes who want to compete in a Half distance Triathlon. For this plan we recommend that you have already raced an Olympic distance triathlon and are regularly swimming 2km sessions, biking 2 hours and running 1 hour.
  • 2 week taper into your race.
  • 1-2 sessions per day.

Ironman Training Plan- Intermediate

  • 16 week plan, ave. 12.5 hours per week, building to maximum of 16 hours per week.
  • For those athletes who want to compete in an Ironman Triathlon. For this plan we recommend that you have already raced a Half distance triathlon, or are capable of a 50 minute swim session, ride for 90 minutes and run for 50 minutes.
  • 2 week taper into your race.
  • 1-2 sessions per day.

Ironman Training Plan - Advanced

  • 16 week plan, ave 15 hours per week, building to maximum of 18.5 hours per week.
  • For those athletes who want to compete in an Ironman Triathlon. For this plan we recommend that you have already raced a Half distance triathlon and regularly swimming 3km sessions, biking 3 hours and running 90 minutes.
  • 2 week taper into your race
  • 1-2 sessions per day

Olympic distance triathlon- Novice

  • 12 week plan, ave 7 hours per week, building to maximum of 9 9 hours per week.
  • For those athletes who want to compete in an olympic distance triathlon. For this plan we recommend that you can swim 200m non stop bike 15km and run 5km.
  • 1 week taper into your race
  • 1-2 sessions per day
